Disney Studios have issued a press release updating the movie-going public about “Iron Man 3” and “Thor: The Dark World.” Both films will be released next year in 3D on May 1 for ol’ Shell Head and November 8 for His Mightiness.
But within the depths of said press release another release date has been scheduled. On November 6 2015, Marvel has lined up the release of the much talked about and long gestating “Ant-Man” project. This would place “Ant-Man” as the first movie scheduled after “Avengers 2” (May 1 2015) so can we assume that “Ant-Man” will launch phase 3 of the Marvel Movieverse?
For those of you that don’t know, Ant-Man was an original Avenger in the comic book in the early 1960s. He has the ability to shrink and/or grow himself to non-human sizes and he also has the ability to mentally communicate with ants via his stupid looking helmet. Apart from his helmet, I think Ant-Man is super cool and don’t understand why people think talking to ants is a bogus super power.
There have been 3 people in the Ant-Man costume over the years, but the current Ant-Man, Eric O’Grady, is a jerk and the less said about him the better. The two you really want to know about are Henry “Hank” Pym and Scott Lang. Apparently the movie adaptation will feature BOTH incarnations of Ant-Man. Hank Pym in a ‘60s flashback and Scott Lang as the present day Ant-Man.
“Ant-Man” is being directed by the genius that is Edgar Wright, who is currently filming the follow up to “Shaun Of The Dead” and “Hot Fuzz,” entitled “The World’s End” with his usual gang of idiots/collaborators Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
